Woman charged for bringing drugs into jail

A Jim Thorpe woman has been arrested by Nesquehoning police for bringing controlled substances/contraband into the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, on March 17.

Danielle Lauren Beers, 30, of the unit block of West Seventh Street, Jim Thorpe, is facing two felony charges, including bringing a controlled substance/contraband into the jail and possession of a controlled substance/contraband by an inmate.

Police said Beers was taken into custody by Mahoning Township police after they learned she was wanted by Nesquehoning police.

During the stop, Mahoning officers recovered drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics from Beers, police said.

After the woman was turned over to Nesquehoning police, she was asked if she had any other controlled substances on her.

Police said she denied having any drugs or contraband, but, upon arrival, a female guard took Beers into a room to search her and located a small plastic baggie containing several pills that was between her buttocks.

The pills were later identified as Clonazepam, Alprazolam and Xanax, police said.

Police said Beers waived her Miranda rights and admitted the pills belonged to her and that she lied to police.
