Tamaqua shines at Anthracite meet

The Tamaqua Blue Waves had numerous winners at the annual Anthracite Swim League Championships.

The Tamaqua 8-and-under girls dominated their age group as Kate Behun and Shaylee Gormley combined to win six of the seven individual gold medals in their division. The two also combined to help capture relay first-place finishes.

Behun won the 25 back, 50 free and 100 IM, while Gormley touched the wall first in the 25 free, 25 fly, and 100 free.

Other Tamaqua swimmers to gain three individual gold medals were Brandon Temarantz (8-and-under boys), Savannah Wilson (9-10 girls) and Molly Newton (11-12 girls).

Temarantz claimed the 100 IM, 25 fly and 25 breast, while Wilson won the same three events in her age division. Newton was first in the 100 free, 100 IM and 50 free.
