Thank you to local volunteers

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, the unthinkable happened to me and my husband. While going on with our daily routine, both my husband and I didn’t feel our normal selves but dismissed this as just being tired or having a bit of a cold. As evening approached and during our meal, it happened. Through the grace of God, my husband had the foresight to call 911. That phone call saved our lives; we were overcome by carbon monoxide gas. Our dear neighbor who is a member of the Lansford Fire Company heard the dispatch and came immediately to our aid. Arriving within minutes, officer Morrow of the police and EMS came to our rescue.

I cannot put into words the thanks and appreciation I had for my neighbor, Frank Marek, officer Morrow and all the Lansford firefighters (especially Frank, Ron Hood and Mark Kosica, who was the guardian angel) when I opened my eyes to all the EMS who aided me, my husband and our pets, Willie and Licorice. We all survived this terrible ordeal relatively unscathed.

I would like to say a special thank you to the Carbon County dispatcher who acted so swiftly. The Orach family, dog and cat included, are very proud and grateful for the unsung hero volunteers as they do their best to protect our great community and take care of all of its residents — at times risking their own lives!

God bless each and every one of you.
