Open house set for new medical facility in Lansford

Many Lansford-area residents have already visited the much-anticipated St. Luke’s medical office building in town.

Those who have not will have a chance to this Wednesday, without an appointment.

The St. Luke’s University Health Network will host a ribbon cutting and open house Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.

Visitors will be able to tour the new two-story facility. Refreshments and a prize drawing will also be available.

Pennsylvania’s Acting Deputy Secretary of Health Innovation, Brian Lentes, will join other officials in dedicating the new facility.

Located along Coal Street between Patterson and Bertsch, the facility includes a rural health center and physical therapy center.

The therapy center, which relocated from Tamaqua, will offer physical therapy including pediatric and lymphedema therapy; speech therapy; and occupational therapy. The new center is larger and offers a wider range of equipment for therapy sessions.

The rural health center will be the fourth under the St. Luke’s Miners Campus umbrella. Rural health centers offer family medicine services and more specialized services to patients regardless of their health care coverage. The clinics accept private insurances, medical assistance, Medicare and patients who are self-pay.

The rural health centers provide over 12,000 patient visits annually. In addition to primary care at the clinic itself, the certified nurse practitioners use a van to visit local schools and provide medical services to students and staff.

St. Luke’s is hoping to add a specialist doctor to the practice in the future.
