State police at Lehighton report on drug charges

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following incidents. Police did not release names for any of the accused.

• A 25-year-old Stroudsburg man is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) after a traffic stop at 9:28 p.m. March 2 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. State police stopped a 2011 Ford Taurus for a traffic violation, after which time the operator of the vehicle admitted to having drugs in his possession. A small amount of marijuana was found and seized from the vehicle, police said.

•A 45-year-old Palmerton woman was cited for possession of a controlled substance at 12:10 p.m. Feb. 26 after a traffic stop along White Street in Bowmanstown. The woman was a passenger in the vehicle, a red Pontiac Grand AM.

• A 20-year-old Palmerton man was arrested after a traffic stop at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 27 on White Street in Bowmanstown. Police said they stopped a Ford Fusion for a traffic violation, after which time it was discovered the operator was in possession of a controlled substance.

• State police were called to the area of Oak Street and Cherry Alley in Parryville at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 27 for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon responding, they learned the driver of the 2018 GMC Savana was under the influence of drugs. Charges will be filed pending the results of laboratory testing, police said.
