Palmerton woman tells officer she is a 'drug addict'

A Palmerton woman has been charged with drug possession after she admitted to an officer that she’s a “drug addict.”

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Adam Shimer of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

On Feb. 2, Shimer was assisting patrolman Tim Kromer with the investigation of a cruelty to animals complaint in the 200 block of Lehigh Avenue.

Shimer began searching the home for the subject of the call, and as he entered a rear room of the home, he saw a red half straw with white residue.

Shimer also observed a state identification within the same area bearing the name Stacy Fritz, 43.

Shimer took custody of the red straw and turned to Fritz, who reluctantly stated that the item was used for “meth” and alleged she was a “drug addict.”

Fritz faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. April 3 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
