A look back: March 2, 1972

February was a record-breaking month for the marriage license bureau in Carbon County, according to Geza E. Holczman, register of wills.

A 12-year-old record for the number of licenses issued was broken, when 29 were distributed by the office. The previous high mark for the month of February was 26 in 1960.

Another mark that went by the boards in regard to the age of applicants was set when an 84-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman applied for a license. They were married by a justice of the peace.

The previous top age involved an 80-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman, which happened in July 1969.
