Two charged in Tamaqua disturbance

Two people were cited by Tamaqua police on Jan. 31 after an altercation in the borough.

Officers were contacted at 5:44 p.m. by Roxanne Counterman, 45, of Penn Street, who said Travis Christman, 27, of Center Street, had threatened her son while they were walking home from the grocery store. Christman threatened “to wreck all three” of the walkers.

At 6:03 p.m. officers were called back to the area for a dispute in progress. They found Counterman, who said Christman had come back and threatened her kids during an argument. She admitted causing a disturbance at the Hunter Street home where Christman was visiting.

Christman said he had been walking in the area when approached by Counterman and her sons. They called him names, which angered him and led to the threat of bodily harm.

He said he did not go to Counterman’s home, instead, she came to Hunter Street and began yelling, causing a disturbance. Her actions at the time were caught on surveillance camera.

She was cited for disorderly conduct, while he was cited for harassment.
