Tamaqua woman charged with stabbing boyfriend

A Tamaqua woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after she stabbed her boyfriend in a domestic dispute.

Police responded to an address in the 500 block of East Elm Streets at 1:23 a.m. for a reported stabbing. They found blood droplets from the porch, through the living room, leading to the male victim who was on the kitchen floor in a large pool of blood.

The victim said his girlfriend, Mary Ellen Koreisl, 39, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him because she thought he was seeing other women. The knife was also on the kitchen floor, but Koreisl had fled the home in a smoke colored Chevrolet Cruze. She was located a short time later and arrested.

Koreisl was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer on felony charges of aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of an instrument of crime and reckless endangerment. Judge Bayer set bail at $25,000 straight cash, which she was unable to post.

She was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.

Mary Ellen Koreisl, 39, of Tamaqua, was arraigned this morning on charges related to a domestic incident, accused of stabbing her boyfriend. She was escorted to court by Tamaqua Patrolman Fred Lahovski. KATHY KUNKEL/TIMES NEWS
