PennDOT trucks used for roadblock in DUI case

State police at the Frackville barracks said two PennDOT plow trucks were used to provide a roadblock that halted a Conyngham man when he was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Kline Township and refused to stop.

The incident happened at 1:01 a.m. Feb. 20 when Harry Kress, 37, was driving a 2015 Mercedes Benz into oncoming traffic while heading southbound in the northbound lanes of traffic.

Police said a traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle continued south, failing to yield and passing multiple vehicles head-on.

The plow trucks were stopped side-by-side in the area of mile marker 134, creating a roadblock and preventing the Mercedes from continuing.

Police said it was then determined that Kress was under the influence of alcohol.
