$24K in meth, shotgun, fentanyl seized in Schuylkill

The Pennsylvania State Police Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force Police seized $24,000 of methamphetamine, a shotgun and suspected fentanyl in a search last week in Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said the search and seizure was conducted at 6:05 a.m. Feb. 21 at a home on the 400 block of Hobart Street.

John Solomon Kessler, 46, was charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale and lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail.

Kessler is charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possess/use/manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine and fentanyl).

Police said the search resulted in approximately 240 grams of methamphetamine, a shotgun, several glassine packets of suspected fentanyl and items of drug paraphernalia used for the packaging, repackaging and weighing of controlled substances.
