State police at Lehighton investigate DUIs

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following DUI incidents.

• Police said a 44-year-old Lower Towamensing Township man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made at 2 p.m. Feb. 14 at the intersection of Route 209 and Burger Hollow Road in Polk Township.

Police said the man was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation before police learned he was under the influence of drugs. Charges are pending the results of laboratory testing of the driver, whose name was not released.

• State police reported that a driver was taken into custody and transported for a blood test after it was determined the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol. Police responded at 8:48 p.m. Feb. 13 to the 1200 block of Lovitt Road in Towamensing Township for what initially appeared to be a disabled motorist.

Upon investigating, police learned the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. Charges will be filed pending lab results. The driver was not identified.
