Bombers’ Dougherty selected to CL boys first team

Palmerton’s Nate Dougherty, who reached the 1,000-point plateau this season, was recently selected to the Colonial League Boys Basketball First Team all-star squad.

Dougherty, a senior, has averaged 19.9 points per game this season — the third highest in the Times News area. Dougherty, one of five seniors on the first team, has also helped the Blue Bombers claim a berth in the District 11 Class 3A tournament.

Three other area players were recognized as Second-Team selections. They include Northern Lehigh’s Brandon Hess and Preston Kemery, and Northwestern’s Sam Yadush.

Hess, a senior, also hit the coveted 1,000-point mark this season. The Bulldog is currently averaging 16.4 points per contest and has connected on 56 three-pointers. Classmate Kemery tallied 13.9 ppg during the year. The two aided Nolehi’s 15-7 regular season, which earned a berth in the league playoffs and a spot in the upcoming district tournament.

Yadush, another senior who reached the 1,000-point mark, has scored 14.6 points per contest and leads the area boys is free-throw percentage at .875. The Tiger has also hit 48 three-pointers.

Other TN players who made the Honorable Mention list included Northwestern’s Devin Thomas and Palmerton’s Justin Hosier.
