Weatherly man on the run since May is back in custody

A Carbon County inmate who walked off work release and had been on the run since May is in custody.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Glenn Laninger of the Nesquehoning Borough Police Department:

At 9:14 p.m. May 2, Laninger was contacted by a sergeant at the Carbon County Correctional Facility, who said that Joshua Gundry, 30, of Weatherly, had failed to return to prison after his work shift at Kovatch Ford in Nesquehoning.

Gundry was scheduled to return no later than 7:15 p.m.

He was picked up Feb. 15 by Hazleton Police on other charges.

For this incident, Gundry has been charged with escape.

Gundry is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
