10th annual Human Services Priority Brunch scheduled for April 26

The Carbon County Interagency and Family Collaborative Board is organizing its 10th annual Human Services Priority Brunch for area legislators and the public.

The event will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on April 26 at Whispering Pines Banquet Hall, located in Penn Forest Township Fire Company No. 1, 1387 Route 903, Jim Thorpe.

This year’s topic is “Carbon County Mental Health System, Key Issues, Strategies and Solutions.”

During the event, various speakers will talk about mental health issues in the community. Some of the speakers include Pennsylvania Secretary of Corrections John Wetzel, who will speak about the mental health system in prisons; Lynn Kovich, deputy secretary of mental health from the Department of Human Services; and Leigh Ann Ksiazek, community program manager at the Department of Public Welfare Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

The breakfast begins at 9 a.m. with the program starting promptly at 9:30.

Registration for the event is now open.

To reserve a seat, mail a check, made payable to the Interagency Council of Carbon County c/o Eastcentral PA AHEC, 5662 Interchange Road, Lehighton, PA 18235. Information that should be included with the check are your organization’s name, address, phone number and email, as well as the names of the people who are attending. The cost per seat is $15.

Deadline to reserve a seat is April 12.

The group is also seeking sponsors for the event.

Sponsors help offset the cost of the brunch, as well as fund future grants that the agency awards.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at $50, $75 or $100 levels.

To become a sponsor, donations can be sent to Interagency Council of Carbon County at the aforementioned address.

Checks should be made payable to Interagency Council of Carbon County.

Deadline for sponsorship is March 29.
