Police looking for man who robbed store at knife point

A robbery suspect is being sought in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said an attempted armed robbery occurred at the AC Boardwalk store in King’s Village Plaza in Norwegian Township, just outside Minersville. According to troopers, a man entered the store and confronted the 58-year-old clerk while holding a knife.

He said he wanted all of the money, but the clerk told him she didn’t have any money. He then asked about machines in the backroom and wanted the money from them. He was told that the money from the machines was locked in a safe.

The suspect then fled the store without obtaining anything. He walked down the sidewalk, then began jogging. He jogged to a stop sign on Westwood Street then made a right toward Minersville.

He was described as white, about 6 feet, 3-inches tall, skinny build, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, gloves and something black covering his face, only exposing his eyes. He also had a small curved knife about five inches long. The blade of the knife was bronze or gold in color with a design on it.

The investigation is continuing.
