Two people were seriously injured this morning when involved in a crash in Lower Towamensing Township.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. as the pair were traveling north on Blue Mountain Drive at the entrance to the Blue Mountain Ski Lodge. The van left the road striking and snapping off a utility pole.

The victims were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and a Medic unit from Northampton County before being transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center in Allentown.

The Lower Towamensing fire company helped extricate the patients. State Police at Lehighton are investigating.
