Several crashes on slippery roads

Several crashes were reported on area roads Tuesday.

Route 895 in East Penn Township was down to one lane after the driver of a pickup truck lost control on a snow covered Berger Creek Road.

The driver was traveling south when he entered the intersection and was unable to stop.

He crossed Route 895 and came to rest in a ditch. The driver was towing a trailer. East Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.

Route 209 between Nesquehoning and Lansford has reopened following a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning.

Nesquehoning and Jim Thorpe fire departments and Lehighton Ambulance were dispatched to the scene with reported entrapment.

According to reports at the scene, one man was injured in the crash that happened around 9:15 a.m. He was driving north when he lost control of his vehicle and slid off the roadway and into a utility pole.

Lehighton paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting the patient.

The road opened just before 10:30 a.m.

A second crash in the borough was reported just after 10 a.m. at the Fuel Up Mini-mart on East Catawissa Street.

According to scanner reports, a vehicle and a snowplow collided in the parking lot of the business. No injuries are reported.
