A Lehighton man has been charged after he struggled with officers following a domestic dispute.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Joseph Burke of the Pennsylvania State police Troop N Lehighton Patrol Unit:

At 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Burke responded to a home on Britt Drive in East Penn Township for a report of an active domestic.

Burke spoke with a woman, who said that Gregory Everett, 50, is on prescription medication and drinks alcohol with it.

She said that he becomes verbally abusive and combative toward everyone who attempts to help him.

Burke spoke with Everett, who said that he and the woman got into a verbal argument.

While speaking with Everett, police said it was apparent that he was highly intoxicated, was unable to stand on his own and was slurring his speech.

Everett told police that he wanted to kill himself and “just wanted to die.”

Resisting arrest, Everett grabbed trooper Justin Magluilo by the arm and pulled him into himself.

Burke and Magluilo assisted Everett to the ground and attempted to arrest him, but he resisted by refusing to put his hands behind his back and grabbed onto Burke’s leg in an attempt to keep his hands in front of him.

Everett refused to sit in the marked patrol unit and was forced into the vehicle.

While sitting in the vehicle, Everett spit on troopers Ryan Brands and Magluilo.

Through resisting arrest, Everett sustained a minor abrasion on his forehead and nose, and was transported to PSP Lehighton while his probation officer was contacted.

Troopers say they have been to the residence 11 times between 2017-2018 for multiple incidents including domestics and involuntary commitments.

Everett faces charges of aggravated assault, obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, 10 percent, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 30 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
