State police at Fern Ridge investigate crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Monroe County roads.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:21 a.m. on Friday along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township. Troopers said Sean T. Imegi, 29, of Bronx, New York, was driving a 2013 Freightliner tractor with trailer westbound and negotiating a right curve when he lost control causing the rig to strike a guide rail and overturn down an embankment.

Imegi was not injured. He was cited for the crash.

Troopers also reported on a crash that occurred at 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the intersection of Route 115 and Bunny Lane, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Kimon M. Karanikolaou, 33, of Brodheadsville, was at the intersection on Bunny Lane when he attempted to turn onto Route 115 causing his 2006 Honda Civic to be struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Steven A. Rothwell, 36, of Effort.

Troopers said Karanikolaou sustained a possible minor injury but did not require medical attention. Rothwell was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Troopers cited Karanikolaou for the crash.
