A look back: Jan. 12, 1965

The Nesquehoning Borough Council voted unanimously to elect James Kishbaugh to serve as its president.

Kishbaugh, who was nominated for the position by Hugo Diehl, will succeed Vernon Corby, who resigned the position at the Dec. 29 meeting.

Borough officials who offered reports to the council included police Chief Harold Billig, road foreman John Katchen, water supervisor Peter Kopie and secretary Howard McMichael, who reported the borough’s books will be turned over to auditors Herbert Davis, John Moskerinetz and attorney Joseph C. Greco for auditing.

Mayor James Fauzio also reported to the council the issuance of 10 badges to fire police personnel.
