A look back: Jan. 11, 1957

The Rev. Frederick J. Frazer, principal of Marian High School since it started in 1954, will be transferred to Philadelphia, effective Jan. 24, when he will become the principal of the John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School.

His successor here will be the Rev. Gerald P. Quinn, a native of Philadelphia who has been a teacher at Roman Catholic High School in that city for the past 20 years.

Frazer has built Marian into one of the largest parochial schools in the area. Its enrollment has increased from 285 pupils when it opened to 374 today.

There are 12 teachers on the faculty of the school that serves pupils from the Panther Valley as well as several towns in Schuylkill County.
