Panther Valley routs Oley for eighth victory

The Panther Valley boys basketball team continued its winning ways on Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oley Valley-Panther Valley

Panther Valley opened with a 21-point opening quarter lead on its way to a 69-46 non-league win over Oley Valley.

Rene Figueroa had a game-high 23 points for the Panthers (8-1), while Eric Machorro chipped in with 20 points and Blake White added 12 points.

Lehighton-Northern Lehigh

Lehighton came out on top with a 34-30 victory over Northern Lehigh in the consolation game of the Lady Indian Holiday Classic.

Trailing 27-20 after three quarters of play, the host Indians finished strong with a 14-point fourth to pull out the win.

Hailey Miller paced the Indians with 12 points.

Jada Saeger netted a Bulldogs’ high of 19 points.

WRESTLING

Lehighton at Tony Iasiello

Christmas City Tourney

Lucas Sangiuliano, Chris Whiteman, Logan Pagotto and Richard Fronheiser all advanced to the semifinal’s this morning at the Tony Iasiello Christmas City Tournament.

Sangiuliano (132) and Fronheiser (170) both recorded pins to move on towards a potential championship, while Whiteman (145) and Pagotto (152) moved on thanks to major decisions.

Alex Zeigenfuss (182), Christian Rodriguez (220) and Darrell Hull (285) return to Bethlehem Catholic High School to take battle in the consolation rounds.

The Indians currently sit in eighth place with 45 points. Host Becahi leads after the first day with 100 points.

Semifinals will start at 10 a.m. with the finals starting at approximately 1:30 p.m.
