Northampton County woman faces charges in child abuse case

A Northampton County woman faces charges of assaulting her 2-year-old child.

Bryanna Rosenberger, 21, of the 3000 block of Spruce Drive, faces charges on counts of endangering welfare of children and simple assault.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Matthew Enstrom of the Lehigh Township Police Department:

At 1:10 p.m. Dec. 5, Enstrom met with Northampton County Children & Youth regarding a child abuse case that occurred in the 3000 block of Spruce Drive, Northampton.

Children and youth said that a 2-year-old child was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital on Dec. 4 for an exam due to suspected child abuse.

Children and youth said that the mother, Rosenberger, may have committed the abuse.

Children and youth had photographs of the injuries to the child, which Enstrom viewed.

The photographs showed multiple bruises all over the child’s body, and that the child was missing large amounts of hair from its head.

At 2:37 p.m. Dec. 5, Enstrom spoke to a doctor from Lehigh Valley Hospital who conducted an exam on the child.

The doctor stated that based on her exam and the injuries she observed, the bruises are consistent with child abuse.

The doctor also said the child has elevated liver enzymes that are consistent with abdominal injuries, and that the child has abdominal bruising.

At 3 p.m. Dec. 5, children and youth and Enstrom conducted an interview with Rosenberger at the Northampton County Children & Youth Office.

Rosenberger admitted at that time that she caused some of the injuries to the child.

Rosenberger is currently incarcerated in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Rosenberger is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 16 before District Judge Robert Hawke of Walnutport.
