Panthers get OT victory

The Panther Valley boys basketball team pulled out a dramatic overtime victory to highlight Friday’s scholastic action.

In other action, the Palmerton and Pleasant Valley girls basketball teams rolled to easy wins.

BOYS BASKETBALL

North Schuylkill-Panther Valley

Panther Valley edged North Schuylkill 85-84 in overtime for a Schuylkill League Division 1 win.

Rene Figueroa had a game-high 36 points for the Panthers (5-1). Brandon Stilitino added 15 points, and Erick Marchorro tallied 14.

Zackary Stokes scored 33 points for the Spartans (3-3), who forced overtime by outscoring PV 28-17 in the fourth quarter. Nathan Burke added 21 points, and Jack Kempsey 12.

NORTH SCHUYLKILL

Blue Mountain-Lehighton

Blue Mountain used a big second half to remain unbeaten and down Lehighton 48-38 in Schuylkill League Division 1 action.

Drew Grace scored 13 points for the Eagles (7-0, 3-0), who trailed 19-18 at halftime. Gavin Conway added 12 points.

Devon Haydt led the Indians (1-5, 1-2) with nine points, while Addison Howland added eight.

Stroudsburg-Pleasant Valley

Stroudsburg turned back a late rally from Pleasant Valley to grab a 77-73 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.

Del’Ron Card led five Mounties (3-4) in double figures with 19 points. Gerard Richburg (15), Alex Santos (11), Mike Strouse (10) and Jaden Adams (10) also hit double figures.

Sebastian Piszczatowski scored 19 points for the Bears (0-5), who roared back with a 26-point fourth quarter. Mychal Kears added 18 points, Noah Mitchell scored 11 of his 14 in the final period and Ashton Smith tallied 13.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Salisbury

Palmerton rolled to a 48-15 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Brianna Moore led all scorers and paced the Bombers (4-2) with 14 points. Casi Papay tallied nine points for Palmerton, which held Salisbury to just four points in the second half, and four field goals in the contest.

Salisbury drops to 1-5 with the setback.

Pleasant Valley-Stroudsburg

Pleasant Valley picked up a 67-40 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Stroudsburg in a battle of undefeated teams.

Cameron Caffrey led the Bears (6-0) with 17 points, while Madison Rosenberg and Ashley Schwenk tallied 11 and 10, respectively.

The Mounties fall to 6-1 with the loss.
