Local Roundup: Results from Dec. 15

Jim Thorpe, Northwestern, Pleasant Valley and Marian all gained wins in girls basketball over the weekend.

The Olympians and Bears remained undefeated with their victories.

In boys action, Panther Valley and Weatherly posted wins. PV is also undefeated in the early going.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Fleetwood-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe continued its hot start, rolling past non-league opponent Fleetwood, 55-22.

Olivia Smelas amassed 16 points for the Olympians, who improved to 3-0, while Skyler Searfoss was right behind with 15.

The winners, who outscored their opponents by a 30-4 margin in the middle frames, also received 12 points from Natalia Richards.

Northwestern used a stifling defense to earn a 41-30 non-league win over Lehighton.

For the Tigers (4-1), Sydney Sevrain’s 11 points and Alexandra Lister’s 10 sparked the winners.

Hailey Miller finished with 10 points to lead the Indians (3-1).

Lake Lehman-Marian

Marian outscored Lake Lehman by a wide margin at the free-throw line to help gain a 42-33 non-league win.

The Fillies (2-1) made 19 free throws, compared to just four by the Black Knights.

Emily Shaud finished with a game-high 18 points, including a 10-of-11 effort at the line. Isabella Schwabe and Julia Kreisl both chipped in with eight points.

Cameron Caffrey scored a game-high 19 points to lead Pleasant Valley to a 53-43 non-league win over Moravian Academy.

The Bears (4-0), who also received 10 points from Ashley Schwenck, outscored their opponent by a 26-15 margin in the second half.

Brianna Clark and Madison Rosenberg also chipped in with eight points apiece.

Julie Harbonic scored 15 points for the Hawks, while teammate Allison Bashore added 14.

For the Panthers (5-1), Erika Dubosky led all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Megan Pascoe also reached double figures with 10 points.

Panther Valley’s offense was tough to stop, as they defeated Hamburg, 64-47, in a non-league contest.

Rene Figueroa led the Panthers (3-0) with a 21-point effort, while Brandon Stilitino added 16 and Erick Marcharro had 14.

Hamburg received 17 points from Seamus Barter.

Leading the Wreckers (2-2) was Scotty Zoscin, who scored a game-high 27 points and added five steals. Elijah Derr contributed 16 points, while both Antonio Colecio and Mason Gerhart chipped in with 13.

Cole Simpler tallied 22 points for the Rams.

Tamaqua posted a 55-38 victory over Marian.

Parker Coleman led the Blue Raiders with 13 points, while Bashkim Hoti added 12 and Joe Coleman netted 11.

The Colts received 12 points from Matt Rehrig.
