Palmerton woman faces multiple drug-related charges

A Palmerton woman faces drug charges in three cases.

Hailie McGowan, 24, of the 400 block of Lehigh Avenue, faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in the first case.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Dane O’Brien of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At 12:54 a.m. Sept. 13, O’Brien was contacted by patrolman Craig Ball with the Lehigh Township Police Department regarding an outstanding warrant for Isaias Martinez.

He said Martinez has an outstanding warrant from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department for possession with intent to deliver.

He said Martinez was believed to be staying with a woman who lives in the 400 block of Lehigh Avenue.

O’Brien contacted the woman and her daughter, McGowan, and asked if Martinez was there.

They said he was at their residence about two hours ago.

While police searched the residence, two glass pipes containing burned green vegetable matter and one glass pipe containing a white substance were on an end table in the attic of the residence.

McGowan admitted that the pipes were her property.

In the second case, McGowan faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by O’Brien:

At 10:28 p.m. Sept. 29, O’Brien and patrolman Shawn Leadbetter were dispatched to the same address for a report of a woman threatening to kill herself.

McGowan came down the living room staircase. She had a wax packet that contained heroin, and a glassine bag was used to contain methamphetamine.

In the third case, McGowan faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by O’Brien:

At 10:05 a.m. Oct. 5, O’Brien and patrolman Brian Stern were dispatched to St. Luke’s Palmerton Campus for a report of a disturbance.

While en route, dispatch said McGowan was fleeing from the scene wearing a black hoodie.

Stern located McGowan in the 300 block of Alley H. A metallic tube containing a white powdery substance was in her front right pocket.

McGowan admitted that it’s used to snort heroin.

McGowan is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
