Nesquehoning woman lies to police about her identity

A Nesquehoning woman is in trouble after she lied to police about her identity because she was afraid she had active warrants.

Patricia Derau, 45, of East Center Street, faces one charge for giving a false name to police.

On Nov. 18, Nesquehoning police were patrolling Route 209 and saw a Ford Ranger pulled off along the side of the road with two men and Derau trying to repair the left rear tire.

When asked for identification, the two men provided police with the names, while Derau provided the name Tricia Derr.

Jim Thorpe police were called to assist officers at the scene and one of the men, Richard Roberts, was taken into custody on an active warrant for failing to appear in court.

Derau again gave police the false name, but later admitted she had lied because she was afraid she may have warrants out against her.
