• Tamaqua’s 23rd Annual Spirit of Christmas Festival will be held from Nov. 28 through Dec. 2. The Santa Parade will be Nov. 30.

• Jim Thorpe: 37th annual Olde Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe with the official tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 in Josiah White Park with Santa’s arrival at 6 p.m. Special hosts for the evening are Katya Fitzpatrick from BRCTV13 and ’80s Guru Ann Marie Calabrese from WMGH Magic 105.5. Special performances by Angela Nardini and Faculty Brass. Jim Thorpe Olympian’s Cheerleaders, Jim Thorpe Marching Band and Jim Thorpe Area Concert Choir will also perform. See the Carbon County Fair Queen and Evan the 7-foot Elf. Santa will be available inside the train station until 8 p.m. for the traditional free photos. Bring a new and unwrapped toy for the Marines’ Toys for Tots.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold its 11th Nativity display in the fellowship hall of the church on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. A shuttle bus will be available from the train station to the church for those wishing to visit the display, as well as parking in the church lot. The display will be set up on Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. All articles will be registered and be set up by the owners. No items are to be left in the hall of the church. • Stocking Stuffer Saturday will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Cancer Telethon Office, 33 W. Ridge St., Lansford. Santa will be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for photos with children of all ages and pets. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds from the sale and photos benefit the American Cancer Society. • Lehighton: SS. Peter & Paul Christmas Festival, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec 1 and from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 2. There will be a huge basket auction, bake sale and the kitchen will be open Saturday, and on Sunday an all-you-can-eat breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus. • Come celebrate Saint John Neumann’s Annual Breakfast with Santa Marine Toys for Tots Drive from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1 at the Palmerton Campus, 259 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Cost is $5 per person for a full hot breakfast as well as many other choices. Pictures with Santa, craft making and a Chinese auction and 50/50. Please bring one unwrapped new toy to help the Marines collect for the children in our county. Please call 610-751-3744 for tickets or details.

• Tamaqua: The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission and Tamaqua Rotary Club have teamed up for the annual Breakfast With Santa event, which is part of the annual Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas Festival. The old-fashioned breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. on Dec. 1 at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. Children under the age of 2 will be admitted free with a paying adult. • Santa’s favorite helper Mrs. Claus will be at the Summit Hill Heritage Center Dec. 1 starting at 8 a.m. to noon or sell out for a breakfast for kids and adults. Bring your camera for a picture with Mrs. Claus. She brings a treat from Santa for each child. Breakfast is $8 for adults and $4 for kids 11 and under. Eggs, home fries, hash browns, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, juice coffee and tea.

• Palmerton’s annual Christmas in the Park Celebration begins at noon Dec. 1. There will be entertainment all afternoon and more than 100 trees for all to see. Santa Claus will greet the children. The event is sponsored by the Holiday Lights Committee.

• Walnutport’s second annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Recreation Center, located at 215 Lincoln Ave. Santa will be on hand, and light refreshments will be served. The lighting ceremony will be at 5 p.m.

• Saylorsburg: 4 p.m. Dec. 1, VanBuskirk/Haney Park, tree lighting and carols. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available afterward. Santa will be arriving on a firetruck.

• Summit Hill: Christmas on the Hill 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in Ludlow Park. Join us for our fourth annual tree lighting in the park. Kathy Crampsie and the St. Joseph of the Panther Valley parish kids’ choir will be leading caroling, and hot chocolate and cookies will be available while we await Santa’s arrival! Donations for the Summit Hill Food Pantry will be accepted throughout the night.

• Lehighton community tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

• Tamaqua’s Eighth Annual Community Advent Breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. on Dec. 8, hosted by Zion Lutheran Church on Greenwood Street. The program features the music of the Tamaqua High School Jazz Chorale, guest speaker Loren Collura, breakfast by the Zion Culinary Crew, an Advent message by members of the Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network and a candle lighting ceremony. Tickets are available from TAFFN members and at most Tamaqua area church offices. No tickets will be sold at the door.

• Lehighton: Snowflake 5K event, beginning at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 at Zion UCC, Second and Iron streets.

• Live Nativity in front of SS. Peter and Paul Parish hall in Lehighton on Dec. 8. Performances will be every half-hour from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

• Polk Township’s community tree lighting at the Veterans Memorial Park will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 9. We ask that our community groups donate an ornament to display on our trees.
