A home was destroyed by fire in Pottsville over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The blaze was first reported at 804 Cressona Road around midnight.

Firefighters were hampered with roads being covered with ice at the elevated fire scene.

When fire personnel arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the wood frame single family dwelling. The home is a total loss.
