One brother cited after domestic dispute

One brother was cited for assaulting his brother in a domestic dispute in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to Route 191 in Cresco at 11:38 p.m. on Nov. 12 for a report of a man struck in the head with a broomstick. Officers responded and found Steven Wietry, 20, who said he was in a fight with his 29-year-old brother. Wietry said his brother was inside the home bleeding from the head.

Police went into the home and were told by the brother, Tommy Wietry, who had visible injuries to his head, that he and Steven had a fight over food and a broken laptop. Steven grabbed an ax handle and struck Tommy in the head. Another man in the home attempted to break up the fight. Steven then grabbed a can of potatoes and hit his brother in the head with the can.

The brother was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, for treatment. Steven Wietry was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault as a felony 2, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville, failing to post bail.
