Lansford man is facing charges in vehicle theft

A Lansford man is facing charges involving the theft of two vehicles.

David Argott, 41, has been charged in two separate incidents involving the theft of a motor vehicle by Summit Hill police.

On Sept. 23 police were assigned the case of a stolen 2018 Kia Sportage reported by the owner. The vehicle was stolen from in front of the victim’s address in the borough. The keys were left in the vehicle and it was taken sometime between 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. During the course of the investigation Argott became a suspect.

Later police located Argott, but he refused to be interviewed. Police then interviewed creditable sources who had knowledge of the incident, and the two provided written statements that Argott stole the vehicle. As a result police charged him with theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The second incident was reported on Oct. 8. Evans Fuel & Oil Company reported their 1996 Ford F250 super cab pickup was stolen from their facility.

The investigation led to Argott being involved. He was interviewed and provided a written statement admitting he took the truck.

As a result, he has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Also charged with the theft of the truck was Vincent J. Valentini II, 48, of Summit Hill. He was charged with the same offenses as Argott.
