Four young men were charged in connection with a robbery and assault that took place in Tamaqua on Oct. 6.

The victim contacted police at 9:30 p.m. and said he had been assaulted in the area of Biddle and Railroad streets by four guys wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Minutes later officers saw four young men matching the descriptions given. They were walking along the railroad tracks and began running when they saw police.

One of the runners, a 15-year-old, was caught by an officer as they were heading south. The other three split up but were identified and apprehended later.

Two of the suspects were 15, one was 17 and the other was 18-year-old Dishawn Paravicini, whose last known address was on Elizabeth Street in Tamaqua.

When questioned about the assault and theft of $2 in cash and a cellphone, Paravicini said “it was a stupid mistake.”

He was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua on charges of burglary, robbery, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville when he was unable to post the $10,000 straight cash bail.

Since then Paravicini had a preliminary hearing before Bayer and waived all of the charges to court.

His bail was reduced to $10,000 unsecured, which freed him from prison on Nov. 13.

The other three pleaded guilty to similar charges in juvenile court. Two of them were placed on 18 months formal probation on Nov. 5, while the third was awaiting sentencing in Lehigh County.
