Traffic stops lead to charges

Two separate traffic stops by state police at Lehighton has led to charges being filed against both drivers.

• Johnny Goucher, 18, of Palmerton, was stopped about 10 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Weir Mountain and Gilbert roads, in Polk Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation. At the stop troopers noted the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Goucher denied being in possession of marijuana but admitted he had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. A consent search was conduct and suspected marijuana seeds and numerous drug paraphernalia were found.

Troopers said Goucher will be charged with drug possession and related counts.

• Colby Andrews, 35, of Effort, was stopped at Interchange and Mill Pond roads in Polk Township at 11:41 a.m. Sept. 15. He displayed signs of impairment and was found to be in possession of methamphetamines. Drug possession and related charged were filed, troopers said.
