Lehighton Area Middle School Theatre students will present “The Addams Family” (Young@Part Edition) at 7:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The shows will take place in the Lehighton Area Middle School Auditorium, and will begin at 7:15 pm.

The show is under the direction of Laura Welkey.

“The Addams Family,” a musical, is based on the well-known characters created by Charles Addams in his cartoons, which depict a ghoulish American family. Gomez (played by Cameron Motz, eighth grade) and Morticia (played by Edie Cordes, eighth grade) have to come to grips with the fact that their kids are growing up.

Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday (played by Gabriella DiDea, eighth grade) is now an 18-year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own. She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke (played by Connor McClure, seventh grade), a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family — the most un-Addams sounding person one could be. And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinekes (played by Sophia Wentz, eighth grade, and Waylon Bodisch, seventh grade) to their home for dinner.

In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Family members also include: Pugsley (played by Zachary Wilusz, eighth grade); Grandma (played by Brenna Hunt, eighth grade); Lurch (played by Jarred Moyer, eighth grade); and Cousin It (played by Clarissa Smyth, eighth grade).

Uncle Fester (played by Trevor Picket, sixth grade) is the storyteller who manages the 21 Addams Family Ancestors (sixth-eighth grades) who come back to life to assist.
