A Walnutport woman is behind bars after she allegedly attempted to strangle an underage girl.

Taylor Greenawalt, 18, faces charges on one count each of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and strangulation.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Scott Ledo of the Walnutport Borough Police Department:

At 4:16 p.m. Oct. 31, Ledo was dispatched to the 400 block of Lehigh Street for a domestic dispute between two females that turned physical.

Upon arrival, Ledo was directed to the second-floor bedroom, where Greenawalt and the victim were yelling at each other.

Greenawalt had her hands on the victim and was holding her back from leaving.

Ledo knows the victim, who is only 17, and asked her what happened.

The victim said that Greenawalt was mad because she was talking to a male.

The victim and Greenawalt had been in a relationship in the past.

The victim said that Greenawalt pulled her hair, and that she tried to get away, but Greenawalt grabbed the hoodie and started to strangle her.

Greenawalt then threw the victim into the dresser, and grabbed the victim by the hair and threw her to the floor.

Greenawalt then sat on the victim’s chest until she could not breathe, and repeatedly slapped her and smashed her head off the floor while sitting on her chest.

Ledo saw red marks on the victim’s neck, and EMS was dispatched for the victim.

While placing Greenawalt in custody, Ledo handcuffed her left hand.

Greenawalt then lunged toward the victim, pulling her right arm away from Ledo.

Ledo pushed Greenawalt against the wall and window and was able to get control of her right arm.

Greenawalt was taken into custody and transported to Walnutport Police Department.

She is currently incarcerated in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Greenawalt is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 14 before District Judge Robert Hawke of Walnutport.
