Two killed in Lehigh crash

A Walnutport man and an elderly woman were killed in a three-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon in Lehigh Township, Northampton County. It was the third fatal crash in the township in the last six days. The latest crash involved two cars and a motorcycle.

The woman killed was identified as Joanne M. Fisher, 86, of Cypress Avenue, in Salisbury Township. She was a passenger in one of the cars involved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was also killed.

Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller identified him as 63-year-old Kellen Kuhn.

He was taken to the Palmerton hospital after the crash but was pronounced dead there a short time after arrival.

Miller said an autopsy was completed on Kuhn and the cause of death was from multiple blunt-force trauma.

Miller added that Kuhn was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and did not sustain any head injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:52 p.m. on Riverview Drive (Route 145). Details of the crash were not released by township police as of press time. Published reports said the front of one of the cars involved hit the passenger side of the second vehicle. The motorcycle ended up on an embankment.

The crash scene was south of Walnutport and near Birch Drive.

A fatal crash also occurred last Friday in the township.

That crash claimed the life of Richard Bowman, 76, of Pen Argyl, and happened just after 5 a.m. on Route 248 at the Route 873 intersection.

The second crash was reported on Sunday in the 4200 block of Lehigh Drive (Route 248). Killed in that crash was David Ahn Jr., 38, of Northampton.

Investigations into the crashes are continuing.
