November 9, 2001 — Lehighton’s Shane Smith and Josh Strawser both top 100 yards rushing to help the Indians gain a 27-14 victory over Athens in a District 4/11 semifinal game. Smith carries 20 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns, reaching the end zone from nine yards out in the second quarter and adding a 3-yard score in the third frame. Strawser ends with 109 yards on 10 attempts, and adds a TD on a 2-yard pass from Dedan Brozino on the final play of the first half. Lehighton, coached by Bill Brong, also receives a 2-yard TD run from Bryon Haupt, who finishes with 80 yards rushing.
