Lehigh Twp. police release details of fatal crash

A third person has died from injuries sustained in a crash that happened Thursday afternoon in Lehigh Township.

Lehigh Township Police released the report Friday on the fatal crash.

At 2:45 p.m., Lehigh Township Police responded to the 400 block of Riverview Drive (Route 145), for a traffic crash with multiple vehicles and entrapment. One of the vehicles involved was a motorcycle.

On scene, police said a black Harley Davidson Motorcycle along the shoulder on the northbound side of Route 145. The motorcycle had extensive damage and the driver was thrown from the motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver was identified as Kellen Kuhn, 63, of Lehigh Township. Kuhn, who was wearing a helmet and eye protection, succumbed to his injuries at Palmerton Hospital.

A silver Chevrolet Impala was facing south along the northbound guide rail and was heavily damaged. Two occupants of the Chevrolet Impala were trapped within the driver compartment. The driver was identified as John Fisher, 91, of Allentown. The passenger was identified as his wife, 86-year- old Joanne Fisher. Joanne Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene.

John Fisher sustained multiple severe injuries and had to be extricated by Lehigh Township Fire Rescue. He was flown by MedEvac to Lehigh Valley Hospital. He passed away late Friday afternoon.

The third vehicle involved was a red Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Gloria Fisher, 53, of Aquashicola. She was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained a head injury from striking the windshield.

Witnesses informed police that the silver Chevrolet was traveling southbound and swerved right, then swerved hard to the left, then entered the oncoming lane of travel, colliding head-on with the Harley Davidson and the Jeep.

Coroner, Zachary Lysek was called to the scene for the investigation. Lehigh Township Police Department was assisted by Pennsylvania State Police, Lehigh Township Fire Department and Fire Police, MedEvac, Northampton Regional EMS, Northern Valley EMS, Walnutport Fire Department and fire police.

A fatal crash also occurred last Friday in the township.

That crash claimed the life of Richard Bowman, 76, of Pen Argyl, and happened just after 5 a.m. on Route 248 at the Route 873 intersection.

The second crash was reported on Sunday in the 4200 block of Lehigh Drive (Route 248). Killed in that crash was David Ahn Jr., 38, of Northampton.

Investigations into the crashes are continuing.
