Veterans Day events 2018

• The Carbon County Veterans Council will conduct a Veterans Day memorial service at 1 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the Josiah White Park, Jim Thorpe. The public is invited to attend.

• Carbon County Veterans Day parade, 1:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in Lansford.

• Tamaqua American Legion Post 173 will host Tamaqua’s annual Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 10. The parade will form at the east end of Tamaqua and will start at 10 a.m. Following the parade, a brief service will be held in front of the Legion post at 206 W. Broad St.

• Eldred Township will be honoring its veterans and celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Eldred Township Veterans Memorial at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. The memorial is on the grounds of the Eldred Township Municipal Building in Kunkletown. The celebration includes special speakers and music, possibly including local legislators as well as a retired military person. A small reception will follow with refreshments and memorabilia on display inside the township building. Also the committee will be observing the 20th anniversary of the monument and those who were instrumental in bringing to life the idea of such a memorial. The event will be held rain or shine.

• St Luke’s Miners Campus Veterans breakfast, 7 to 10 a.m. Nov. 11, 360 W. Ruddle Street, Coaldale. Veterans eat for free. Guests accompanying Veteran $4. Registration requested using the events calendar on sluhn.org or call 866-STLUKES (prompt 4).

• The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, 44 W. White St., Summit Hill, will host a service to recognize veterans at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11. The Panther Valley Junior ROTC will participate. For information, call David Perkins at 570-240-0043.
