Police: Lehighton man caused ruckus at store

A Lehighton man raised a ruckus at Verizon Wireless in Buckhorn on Sept. 15 and now faces three citations stemming from his actions.

Police say Darrin Bellum, 45, yelled and used profanity toward a Verizon employee and threw his cellphone into the Verizon Wireless store at 56 Plaza Drive around 7:11 p.m. that day. He also threw his cellphone out of the window of a car belonging to his girlfriend, officers say.

Police cited Bellum with disorderly conduct for his actions toward the Verizon employee; criminal mischief for throwing his cellphone; and public drunkenness for allegedly being drunk in a public place.

He faces combined fines and costs of $552.75.
