Halloween party

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Heights, Sunday school held its annual Halloween party on Oct. 19. Prizes were given to the following children: most original, Tommy Schafer; ugliest/spookiest, Nathan Scheckler; prettiest/cutest, Anna Cunningham; funniest, Colton Steigerwalt; and judges choice, Rolan McAnulty.

Christmas caroling

Christmas caroling in the neighborhood in the Heights section of town will take place at 3 p.m. Dec. 9. Practices for the caroling will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the home of Maureen and Farley Foster, 818 Centre Ave.; 6 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Al and Diane Luedtke, 9 White Lane; 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at the home of Lucile and Mike Cox, 10 White Lane; and 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the home of Lori and Ted Larizzio, 1485 Centre Ave.

Everyone who lives in the Heights is welcome to join in the fun. If you would like to sing with the group or wish more information, contact Maureen Foster at 570-402-1430 or mfoster@psea.org.

If there is someone in the Heights that you would like them to visit because they are ill or can’t get out any longer, please email their name, address and phone number to Jodi Hinger at jodhinger@hotmail.com or text/call Maureen.

The group will meet at the Sam Miller field, at 3 p.m. to remember loved ones and caroling will begin immediately following. Details about the Memory Tree(s) will be available in the coming weeks on the Neighbors on the Hill Facebook page.

Legion dues

American Legion Post 304 of Jim Thorpe is accepting 2019 dues. Members may mail their dues for the new year to the post home at 20 W. Sixth St., Jim Thorpe, attention Bill Diehm, membership chairman.

Class of 1965

Members of the Class of 1965 Jim Thorpe High School will meet at noon Thursday at Bravo Cucina Italiana, Lehigh Valley Mall, Whitehall. Members needing directions may call 610-266-4057 or contact George Kunkel.
