Summit Hill man jailed for assault

A Summit Hill man was jailed on an assault charge.

Borough police identified the suspect as Scott Brown, 26, of West Hazard Street.

According to police on Oct. 19 at 4:12 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West White Street for a reported assault. On scene the officers spoke with a woman who said that Brown had assaulted her. Police said the woman was bleeding from the nose and appeared to have an injury to her right eye.

The woman said she and Brown were riding in a vehicle when they had an argument that escalated when Brown punched her in the face multiple times. Police called for an ambulance and the woman was taken to the Lehighton hospital for treatment.

Brown was taken into custody, waived his Miranda rights and claimed that the woman struck him first and he reacted out of self defense.

Brown was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the county prison after failing to post bail.
