Palmerton council discussed the following:

• The borough extended its existing contract with Tamaqua Transfer and Recycling Inc. for another year. The annual contact amount totals $353,568, or $29,494 a month. There was no increase from last year.

• Leaf pickup schedule is posted on the borough’s website.

• The council approved a budget transfer of $1,200 to the PMPA water testing budget.

• The council approved a right of way request from PPL, based in Allentown, for the placement of poles on Golf and Fireline roads.

• A use request for Christmas in the Park was approved.

• A Sons of Liberty statue will be placed on the corner of Fourth and Delaware, near the Fourth Street entrance of the police department.

• Palmerton will give fire police support to the borough of Lehighton for the Snowflake 5k and 1 Mile Run/Walk taking place on Dec. 8.

• A handicap parking space will be made available along the park on the 300 block of Delaware Avenue.

• The borough hired three new leaf collection workers.
