Jim Thorpe hosts 24th Halloween parade

Under mostly cloudy skies with a chill in the air the streets of Jim Thorpe filled with ghouls, ghost, and goblins as the 24th Annual Jim Thorpe Halloween parade Sunday afternoon.

The parade, which was sponsored by the Jim Thorpe Lions Club, worked its way from the Jim Thorpe Area High School  through the streets of the East side of the town, passing the reviewing stand at the Sargent building in the 600 block of North Street and concluding at Third and Center streets.

At the conclusion of the parade, buses shuttled participants back to Memorial Park where there were awards and refreshments for everyone participating.

The Grand Marshal for this years parade was Phyllis Lienhard, a lifelong resident of Jim Thorpe.

The judges were former Jim Thorpe Mayor Tom Wildoner, Dr. Clem McGinley and John Bilsak.

Taking the award for first place in floats was Art Guth "Chills, Thrills & Wizard of Oz" with the "Tyler Strong/ Donate Life" float taking second place and Cub Scout Pack 138 taking third.  

In groups, Girl Scout Troop 30470 won first place while JTNB - Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank received second place and Getz Personal Care Home received third place.
