State police at Lehighton report on DUI incidents

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following traffic incidents:

• A 63-year-old woman from Effort is facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop at 7:42 p.m. Oct. 17 in Polk Township. Police said they detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and found the woman was in possession of the controlled substance. Police did not release the woman’s name.

• A traffic stop made by state police at 10:42 p.m. Oct. 1 at the intersection of Weir Lake and Kunkletown roads in Ross Township has resulted in a 41-year-old East Stroudsburg man being arrested. Police said the driver was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence after the stop was made. A search of the 2016 Ford Escort yielded drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said. Police did not release the man’s name.

• A 24-year-old Jim Thorpe man is facing multiple charges after a crash at 10:42 p.m. Oct. 4 at the intersection of Route 903 and Unionville Road in Penn Forest Township. State police said the man, whose name was not released, was found to be under the influence of heroin after the crash involving a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek. Police said a search of the vehicle yielded a large amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

• A 33-year-old Blakeslee man was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash at 3 a.m. Oct. 4 at the intersection of Lake and Sugar Hollow roads in Chestnuthill Township. State police made the arrest after responding to the above location for a crash involving a 2018 Nissan Rogue. Police said the driver, whose name was not released, displayed multiple signs of intoxication and was taken for laboratory testing. Results of which are pending.

• State police at Stroudsburg said Jorge Valentin, 35, of Mount Pocono, was observed at the Delaware Water Gap toll booths operating a 2007 Honda CRV with no inspection sticker. A traffic stop was made and Valentin was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and also in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
