Police: Man threatened to kill mother, stepfather

A 35-year-old Lake Harmony man who threatened to kill his mother and his stepfather has been arrested by Kidder Township police with numerous charges.

Stephen W. Gallagher, of Lupine Drive, is facing two counts each of harassment and terroristic threats and one count of criminal mischief stemming from the incident at 5:37 a.m. Oct. 23.

Police said they were dispatched to the Lupine Drive address for an intoxicated person who was reported to be tearing up the home and threatening to kill the caller (his stepfather) and his wife.

The victim said he was outside the home and reported his stepson was destroying property inside the home and that he had pushed both himself and his wife, while she was seated on her hospital bed in her bedroom.

Police said the man told them he was awakened by loud banging downstairs and went downstairs to find Gallagher picking up and dropping his mother’s hospital bed while she was in it. He told the officer that when he attempted to intervene, Gallagher pushed him and said he had a gun in his section of the home and that he was going to use it to kill his mother and stepfather.

Police said they took Gallagher into custody without issues. After securing him in the patrol car, the officer entered the home and saw numerous pieces of furniture that had been tossed and broken, as well as several holes in the door in his mother’s bedroom that were caused by Gallagher punching them with his fist.

Police said during their encounter with Gallagher, the man appeared to be “extremely intoxicated.”
