Fall events

• Jim Thorpe Rotary GhostWalks in Old Mauch Chunk. Meet a costumed GhostGuide at the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway at 7 and 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 7 p.m. on Sundays during October for a one-hour, 1-mile walk on Broadway. • Rush Township Police Department’s inaugural 5K Run/Walk, will be held in conjunction with a Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 27, 1-4 p.m., in the Hometown Farmers Market parking lot. Participants can register for the 5K at www.rushtownship.org and anyone interested in participating in the “Trunk or Treat” can call the township office directly at 570-668-2938. The event will include a costume contest, a trunk decoration contest, food, games and lots of candy.

• Scarecrow Build & Pet Parade on Oct. 27 at the Ross Township Park in Saylorsburg. Build your scarecrow from 10 a.m. to noon. Frame and straw supplied, you bring clothes, accessories and imagination. Join the Pet Parade at noon. Prizes for scariest, cutest, most original. All pets are welcome.

• Jokers Are Wild Game Cafe is Mark Keyes to the cafe at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27. Keyes is the leader of the Pennsylvania Paranormal Association, a radio host for “Paranormal Science” on WILK, an author of “Chasing Shadows: A Criminal Investigator’s Look Into the Paranormal,” and has appeared on Destination America’s “Paranormal Survivor,” and Animal Planet’s “The Haunted.” He will provide a small lecture about his experiences, bring some equipment and take your questions. Patrons are asked to bring $5 to be collected that evening. All proceeds will go to Zion UCC’s Food Pantry for items for Thanksgiving meals.

• Halloween Pony Adventure at Apollo Farms, 1-3 p.m. Oct. 27. Join us in costume, best costume will win. Cost is $20 per child, $30 for two siblings. Activities include pumpkin patch, carve or draw on your pumpkin, horse/pony interaction, all children will get to brush and learn basics of horses, dress up the ponies in costume and get a picture with your favorite “costume pony.”

• Summit Hill’s Halloween on the Hill event will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ludlow Park, weather permitting.

• Crossroads Community Church is hosting Harvest Fest from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at 580 Coal St., Lehighton. It includes kid-friendly activities, games and candy during trick-or-treat night.

Parades

• 111th annual Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade: 6 p.m. Oct. 27. The rain date is 6 p.m. Oct. 28.

• Jim Thorpe Halloween Parade, 1 p.m. Oct. 28. Line up at noon.

Trick or treat

• Chestnuthill Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Trunk or treat will be held at the Chestnuthill Township Park, 221 Route 715 Brodheadsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be a costume contest for children 12 and under, including Scariest, Funniest, Cutest and Most Original. • East Penn Township: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Eldred Township: 2-3:30 p.m. Oct. 27, trunk or treat at the Eldred Township Community Center. In case of rain, it will move inside the center. Trick or treat: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Franklin Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31

• Jim Thorpe: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31

• Lansford: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31

• Lehighton: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31

• Lower Towamensing: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27.

• Nesquehoning: Trick or treat: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Trunk or treat, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Nesquehoning Hose Company, rain or shine. To register a vehicle to distribute treats, call the borough office at 570-669-9588 or 570-669-6124. Participants who register a vehicle can set up at 5 p.m. and candy distribution begins at 6.

• North Manheim Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Palmerton: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27.

• Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company trunk or treat, 2-6 p.m. Oct. 28.

• Polk Township: 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Ross Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Rush Township: Trunk or treat, 1-4 p.m. Oct. 27, Hometown Farmers Market parking lot.

• Schuylkill Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Slatington: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Summit Hill: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Rain date, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 1.

• Tamaqua: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27. Anyone wishing to have the ghouls and goblins entertain them should make sure their porch light is turned on.

• Tamaqua: Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua is hosting a trunk or treat rain or shine from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 28 on Mauch Chunk Street between Greenwood and Market streets.
