Deer in I-81 roadway results in two-car crash

No one was injured when two vehicles crashed after one of them came upon a deer in the road on Interstate 81 at 1:47 a.m. Saturday.

The crash happened in Foster Township when Pablo A. Hernandez-Roman, 29, of Shamokin, driving a 2006 Pontiac, swerved to avoid the deer crossing from the east berm. The vehicle traveled into the path of another vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Dart driven by a woman from Mount Carmel who was unable to brake in time. The Dart struck the rear of the Pontiac, causing both vehicles to go out of control and strike the guide rail. The two vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police said Hernandez-Roman was cited.
