Police say Palmerton man threatened to slit girlfriend’s throat

A Palmerton man is in custody after threatening to slit his girlfriend’s throat if she didn’t give him money.

Wilbur Fountain Jr., 42, faces charges of endangering the welfare of children, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.

Fountain was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Brian Stern of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

On Sept. 28, Stern was dispatched to 771 Edgemont Ave. for a domestic disturbance.

The woman told Stern that her boyfriend, Fountain, had assaulted her and her juvenile son.

The woman said that Fountain threatened to slit her throat if she didn’t give him money, and shoved her twice.

The juvenile told Stern that Fountain pushed and punched him several times.

Stern examined the boy and saw he had red marks on his left cheek, scratches on the back of his neck, and a cut on his left ear.

Fountain is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 straight bail.
